That's one thing that's a particular challenge in building tension in historical dramas. Episode 3 of John Adams, for instance, ends with him in Holland at the end of the war, on the verge of death from some illness. But since he later goes on to become President, it's fairly obvious that he overcomes the illness.

OOPS, I suppose I just spoiled it for someone. :p

The movie Apollo 13 managed to pull this (building tension) off well. We all knew that they got back home, and yet they managed to create tension anyway. Well done, I thought.

LoL!!! That reminds me of movie, Titanic. A friend of mine got all upset because someone told her the ending. I guess I just had stupid friends...
