What tips did the guy give you for your backyard? I've got a wilderness area backyard as well, and kind of like it that way until mid summer when all sorts of crazy vegetation sprouts up and I have to mow it all down. While avoiding the snakes that may or may not live there. I could also use a good lead for a place to bring the rest of my yard under control. I don't care much for yardwork and it's gotten a little icky. What kind of rates did they quote you?
Hmmm.. don't remember all the details right this moment, but he quoted about 850 for ripping out the boxhood hedges (which I hate the look of & are a PITA for upkeep) & replacing those with some spruce/juniper (I don't recall which) bushes. Then there was another $300 or so to get the beds and lawn back under control. Plus, the guy came across as very personable - unlike the other fellow that I got a quote from.
Since we have a CRRRRazy issue with chickweed, he suggested buying the concentrated version of Roundup, mixing it ourselves and using a sprayer to kill that junk off. Be wared, however.. that stuff WILL kill ANYthing plant-based.. even the stuff you want to keep. I figure we could use it to get the poison oak too (should it come back - I pulled a BUNCH of that stuff up last fall & am hoping I got all of it). He also had some nice suggestions for our pond area, and since I think we are very likely going with his quote, we're going to take advantage of his ideas for reuse of the existing area. :D

The company is Enviroworks Lawncare (http://www.enviroworkslawncare.com/) and I spoke with Josh, who's also the owner. :D
