I totally miss you. I know what you mean though. There aren't a lot of R/S fests anymore--this year I think it was just the Games, Small Gifts, Black Circle DJ, and the R/S Kink. I think/hope there have to be people out there who still love it as much as we do though.
Aww, I miss you too! You know that. Sigh. I hate the feeling of trying to grab onto all the people that you feel drifting away or that you know have already started drifting away. It's sad it has to end at all. :(((
Well, let's make a pact to stay in touch, either way. Even if R/S is on the downswing and you have stepped back, I'm still so grateful for the art you drew for my story. I count that as one of my proudest and happiest fandom moments, no matter what.
Did you co-mod the Shaggydog Swap? That was a cool fest. I would love to see it come back in the same form, or it could go the other way too, with people offering up fics to be illustrated. Or maybe a bit of both--people could write/draw for prompts, and in another round, maybe write/draw for the art/fics. If you wanted to start something up, I'd be willing to help.
lol, did I co-mod it? lol - I started it!! And ran it with my co-mods and designed for it. It's mine, for sure. :D I made it as a response to the R/S Big Bang when all the artists sorta flaked out on the writers. I wanted to prove that artists could be accounted for - so I made it so they initiated it with THEIR art.
I loved doing it, I really did, I just don't know if there'd be enough interest, whatsoever...
I don't know--there might be. There don't seem to be as many fests that focus on art as on fic. I like that that one included both, and a lot of really great art and fics came out of it. You could do a poll to see who might be interested, as things are pretty quiet R/S-wise for a while. No pressure--just a thought.
Hmm, I mean, in this post alone, I seem to have got a bit of interest in it. Maybe I'll send feelers out, see if I'd get enough participants. I also don't know about any of my co-mods and whether they'd want to help again.

I think I got a bit burnt out, you know? Not in doing the drawings, but in the reception of them, and same goes for people seeing them. I also have a history of sticking around for way too long in a lot of situations, so I wanted to leave before everyone else did. But now it's just sad.

Yeah, no I understand that. It's hard when you are creating fandom based artwork without the fandom there to support it. It's a tricky one, because on one hand you're making it for yourself, but largely you're making it to share with others- so when that gets no feedback...
Yeah. I mean, I know I was really lucky to get a lot more comments than, say, a lot of writers do. But no matter what, it's hard when you're used to a certain amount and that amount starts to steadily drop.
