My father died on Maundy Thursday 40 years after my sister died on that same 'holiday.' My therapist pointed out some parallels that I had never (somehow) noticed. Both died from complications of another disease, both were unexpected and relatively unexplained ( Read more... )

My dad was there when I was groing up, occasionally.  He worked a lot, went out after work for "business dinners" and other excursions.  This wasn't necessarily accepted at our house, but  it was.  I completely idolized my dad.  He had so many friends, he had a job that allowed him to support us and seemed to be successful at everything he did.   ( Read more... )

Playing was always my favorite thing to do.  I played in the yard with my dog.  I played in the pool.  I played games with anyone who would take the time to sit down with me.  I remember begging my family to sit down and play Monopoly, Life, anything.
