So distracted that he doesn't really notice his fingers brushing over the wrong button as he sets down the device, before tossing his coat out of the camera's view

I think so. I never really tried it, but it should be possible. Instead of rerouting power to the thrusters to make it go quick, you could set it to feed the anti-gravity module instead making it capable of carrying heavier loads.

Probably yeah. It is the same basic technology that's used in space ships as well. But I doubt you'd find those parts here. I had to get creative to get this done.
