Wow, robin's-egg! Food colouring or secret ingredient?

Where do you get your purple potatoes, btw? [goes to look for your location info]

Food coloring. I don't know if anything else that will turn my food blue.

I get those potatoes from 99 Ranch Market on Buford Highway. I've seen them in a few other Asian markets here and there. They are sometimes called "Okinawa yams."

Butterfly pea flowers! :D I'm gonna grow some of my own (I hope).

Hmmm, I'm short on places to look for the potatoes, but I'll ask around.

If there's a Whole Foods in your area, you might find them there. ^^

maybe purple cabbage and a touch of something basic would produce a nice naturally blue food.

How? Hybridize them? Throw them in a blender and see what color the resulting slurry is?

i think a friend of mine made a cabbage soup or something using purple cabbage, and tweaked it with just a tiny bit of something basic (not sure if it was baking soda or what), which caused the cabbage to exibit litmus-paper-like qualities and turn blue.

Red cabbage is my favorite soup base ever quite because it is a natural acid/base indicator.
