Yes I think it is a great idea and I have signed it!!! Annoyingly, unless I am missing something, it only allowed me to sign not to comment as well. ipetitions is much better as you get to add your comment

I think it is a great idea to release any good and successful play on DVD with the original cast on DVD because it will reach many people who will never see the play. I really am not able to get to a venue to see the global airing so I will never get to see this play. And I would really like to!
Great idea about the prints! The monies are so needed for the Arts.

Those prices are not unlike the prices for shirts at the Lilith Fair this year!
I don't know why they have gotten away from postcards because those are really want people will seize on. I pretty much ignored all the high priced stuff at the King Tut exhibit last fall and got the postcard book because it was actually photos of the artifacts that I had just seen.
A great idea, and possibly a lucrative one for the National as well. The "experience" of the play comes in two forms considering the actor switch, and if (crossing fingers and toes) a dvd comes to fruition, they'll have the option of either putting both versions on one disk, or having two separate dvds, one for each version.
It doesn't even technologically have to be that difficult, as they will already be recording the production for the live broadcast. I even noted that the content of the downloadable program seemed very much like dvd extras. Only thing missing is Benedict on my tv.
I think that would be blatant exploitation of fans. Given that the National are currently charging very fair prices for their limited edition prints etc I think they should charge a fair price for the DVD and put both versions on one.
But this is all irrelevant, given we have no clue whether they will make this DVD or not!!!
The National have released a DVD of their Cat in the Hat production - I bought it for my two nephews this Christmas. They are based in Birmingham and so cannot come to the National (well they could, but it would be very difficult). This is the first time I think they have done this. The Cat in the Hat was not even part of NT Live.
