That was the one near the end of last season, where there was a group of people who'd found out or heard about the Doctor and started a group to research him. Moaning Myrtle was in it (looking adorable). There was hardly any Doctor in it, but the group dynamic was a lot like a fan club; except the leader of it was really an alien trying to get info about the Doctor and using his "fans" to get it.
At the end, Myrtle got melted but the Doctor "saved" her by fusing her consciousness to the paving stone she'd melted into. It was pretty sad, but they were going for funny.
Anyway.
And yes about dramatic build up, but I still think 42 min. is too short to really get a complicated plot across *and* explore other things.
I don't know any of the cameo people, so it's less trying for me, I think. But you can't blame *me* for the length, since I don't watch any commercial television.
