This is really, really sad. For all that I don't like Sirius, I felt bad for him because he did seem to really care about Regulus, even if he didn't want anything to do with their parents. You've done such a great job describing on a very personal level the causes and consequences and effects of a Civil War. Because that's what this war is, and it's the sort of war that does pit sons against fathers and brothers against brothers. Perhaps, that's what makes civil wars even worse on an individual/human level, that foreign wars. They tear families apart.

You did a very nice job of showing Walburga's horribleness and madness. My chest aches for both Sirius and Regulus here.

Oh, this was really wonderful. You captured Sirius so well! (And I am a "Sirius person," so I fancy myself a Sirius connoisseur. LOL) I loved how you developed the personalties of both boys through little bits and pieces.

And your Sirius was totally spot on. Even as a child he was easily bored and wanted to be outside, and that is something I very much see in him. (Though I do hope that poor Regulus didn't get in too much trouble for ruining his new shoes in the rain.)

I also really loved how the way to get to Sirius was to hurt others he loved. "Regulus isn't my forefathers," Sirius had shot back, standing up as he jut out his lower jaw and met his mother's glare. "He's my brother. And, I don't care whose blood he has." That statement in and of itself speaks volumes about Sirius. He really doesn't care. He just likes certain people and wants to have fun. I think that's very important in young Sirius and you an see that in his relationship with James as well ( ... )

That was a truly amazing take on Sirius' early life. He's my favourite character and in my opinion you really did him justice. That one scene, when he convinced Regulus to play in the rain, makes me so sad, because it seems to be a lighter moment he has at that horrible house. I especially adore his relationship to Regulus and James, but the glimpses of Orion and Walburga were brilliant in their own way, although they seemed so much more negative. Oh, and Sirius speaking French felt so perfectly forced, like he choked the words out, that it just seemed right. Wonderful job!
