So after much lurking and commenting on other peoples LJ, I've decided to post my own god-damned entry.

What actually prompted me to do so was stumbling upon this German Sex Ed manual meant for children

Yah, that works.

I don't think there is any direct connection with Struwwelpeter. Those illustrations are the original ones the author drew, back in 1845. :)

But, I imagine it's quite possible that the entire country of Germany has been influence by that book.
