Caesar was inquiring about bear repellent at a store of the outdoorsy stuff persuasion. Apparently it was highly concentrated pepper spray. He read the back of the can carefully.

"...doesn't look like anything that could cause permanent damage." That clinched it. This might come in handy at school. You never knew when someone was going to turn into a whatever and try to maul you.
