Everything goes away. The familiar sensation of knowing where everything is goes away and that bird he was tracking on the roof is lost. He knew it was coming, Matt had been walking towards him, but he still frowns. Lost it.

He bears it through the conversation, through the walk to the kitchen. He squashes the paranoia while Matt babbles on about classes. A whole hour later they part ways and Caesar feels the boy retreat and his senses spring back to life.

It's warm enough to fall asleep under the trees again and before he drifts off, he pinpoints that bird again. Aha. Found.

It wasn't very often that Luffy was concerned about being squashed- being made of rubber this sort of treatment only caused mild difficulties, but as he rolled and bounced and ran about with his arms flailing about his head, it was very evident that this time, he did not want to be squashed.

This hardly ever happened. You know that saying "letting your imagination get away with you"? That just didn't happen to Arthur. He was always in control.

Or, well, almost always.

This only happened in his own dreams. The presence of another consciousness always grounded him and kept things like this from happening, but he was alone now with nothing but the demons of his own subconscious. It was dark. Arthur could hear his heart beating loud in his chest and he knew it was probably beating just as loud in his physical body, lying in his bed in his apartment.

Closing his eyes, he leaned his head back against the wall behind him and let out a sigh. It was just a dream but Arthur couldn't concentrate long enough to pull himself out of it and in worlds like these his fear of death was far too overwhelming and real for him to just throw himself to the proverbial wolves
