"Oh come on. Just stay flat for once, you miserable..." Caesar had been in front of the mirror for what seemed to be an age trying to get his hair to obey a comb. It wouldn't. It refused. It was going to be a wild red mess forever if it had it's way. As soon as he managed to smooth one part down, another part would already be creeping back out of place.

He hung his head. "Hair shouldn't be this hard," the boy complained at his mirror self. Fine then. It looked like he would have to use the secret weapon, but he really, really did hate hair gel.

CAESAR BEING CURED

There were no more distractions, no more headaches; all that was left was an uncluttered clarity where there used to be people, places, things, all clamoring for attention. That and the near unbearable feeling that someone, somehow, somewhere, was about to get the jump on him.

Caesar would have to master that fear quickly. So his powers had been ripped away from him; he had a plan for that, too. Leaving the Institute behind was the worst part of it, but it would be worth it someday.

Someday, once he had control of the Silverberg Group and could crush Tricell with every ounce of firepower that came with that violent legacy...

Caesar stared blankly at the wall of stuffed fish. Who in their right mind would make so many stuffed fish toys? Red fish, blue fish, clown fish, fish, fish, well, he really never bothered with species of fish before. Would the kind of fish even matter? He picked one up. It had googly eyes. He put it back. Yeah, not that one.

Alright, Caesar just had to think about which one of these he would be alright with owning. If he could stand it, then it would have to be a shoe-in for the freaky fish girl.

"Maybe something less... fish... ish..." His eyes strayed from the fluffy and colorful fish to something just as aquatic, but with a few more legs than a fish. "Ah. That might do."

There was a number on his contact list that always gave him pause. Caesar could never scroll past it without stopping a moment, which seemed stupid to him. He would never call it.

He should just delete it.

It would be for the best.

There wasn't anything left for them to say to one another.

He had trusted him to stand by him and...

"You were supposed to take my side, Albert. How could you just walk away?" Caesar let out a soft sigh and forced himself to scroll on past the irksome phone number. No. He didn't miss his brother. He couldn't let himself do that. He just couldn't.

"I'm seeing movement to your left, guys. Keep your guard up, th--" Those were the last words Caesar Silverberg -- reluctantly codenamed Seek -- would ever say. There wasn't so much pain as there was shock. He staggered at a sharp pain and put a hand to his neck. Then he was crumbling to the cold cement of the building roof he'd stationed himself on for the mission. Oh, he thought as the world around him grew dark, that was stupid, I missed a sni...

He hadn't taken Matt seriously when he had threatened worse than a kiss for worrying him the next time. It was just Matt. Matt was mostly harmless. So when Caesar woke up from a dead sleep to his wrists hoisted up over his head and handcuffed to the bed frame, he was more than a little surprised.

"Where does someone like you even get handcuffs from?!"
