I am coming to you live from my new 13" MacBook Pro, which I have decided to name BB-8, because it is small and cute. The old 15" MacBook Pro (aka Alexander III) is a true workhorse of a machine, but I just couldn't deal with the mostly non-working trackpad anymore, or the amount of time it took to open and save files and various other things that ( Read more... )

woo! new toys are great. Yeah I'm pretty happy with my 13in pros, and haven't seen any reason to go back to the bulkier 15ins. I'd rather spend the money on memory and stuff.

I just use Pages now and I have no problems with it. I did in the end have to get Office again because i needed Powerpoint for grad school and there was no way around it, but Word continues to be the only thing that routinely crashes on my computer and some day in the distant future I will again be rid of it.

Exactly!

it's a little weird, but I can live with it! Or I can download libre office or open office for free if it becomes necessary to have something more Word-like. But I don't really see that happening.

Congrats on your new toy! The new ones don't have a CD-ROM drive, do they? I'm going to need to replace Serenity at some point (she's about 6.5 years old as well and slowing down, and I've been using a mouse for the past couple of years, since the track pad busted). I don't know how I feel about that. I have some software on CD that I don't know if I'll be able to transfer. :P

Thank you!

And no, there's no CD drive, though they do sell one as a peripheral. I thought about getting a mouse but it seemed like it would only have forestalled the inevitable. And since I got a bonus this year, and I don't have to move, it seemed like a good time to spend the money. *hands* I'm pleased so far anyway!
