that season left the world and then returned

I needed HR to do ONE THING for me so I could finish this project I'm working on. It was supposed to be done last week before I left on Tuesday. It is still not done, and people are blowing up my phone/email looking for it. Ugh. HR. WHY SO USELESS?

Ahem.

Anyway.

Gosh, imagine a Black Widow movie about Natasha and Yelena. I almost don't want to think about it because it upsets me that it won't happen.

I'm already so disappointed in Marvel for side-lining Sharon and for casting Cumberbatch but there are some excellent things to look forward to, like Black Panther and Captain Marvel, like you said. (And how much do I want - need - Rhodey to be in Carol's movie <3 )

Right? A movie about Natasha and Yelena would be SO AMAZING.

And how much do I want - need - Rhodey to be in Carol's movie

I would love that A LOT.

For me, the reason Ant Man was at all interesting in the comics was because of the dynamic with Janet. I always thought she was the more colorful character, in fact. So yeah, disappointed and not initially excited about an Ant Man story without the Wasp.

Looking forward to seeing how Scarlet Witch is portrayed in Avengers II. Did you like her character in the comics?

I really only know them from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Janet is definitely the more interesting/entertaining character there.

I'm sort of neutral on Scarlet Witch - I think she can be awesome but the way she's been used in the things I've read has not been...optimal, and I'm afraid the movie's going to do the same thing - have her be so powerful but unable to control it because of ~emotions or whatever, and I just know Joss is going to make her his crazy brunette waif when that's not who she is in the comics.

i read somewhere - i think tumblr - a positive spin on captain marvel getting a movie before black widow, and that it means marvel has faith that a superhero movie starring a female superhero who people are less familiar with can still do really, really well. like the ptb trust the material and trust that the audience is there, and that moviegoers don't need to already know who carol is to want to see her story. which i thought was a good way of looking at it. that said, i'm right there with you on a black widow solo movie - catws was the PERFECT set-up for it. i want to see natasha out in the world, spying and assassinating and figuring out who she is now that she's blown all her covers. i want to see her as the star of her own story, not just a supporting character in someone else's.

Well, that's a really nice spin but I don't believe it, because if they were so confident, why are they waiting until 2018? I mean, we shouldn't have to spin it - we should have a Black Widow movie. *hands*

Yep, SAME to basically all of this. The lack of a Black Widow film is totally bullshit sexism, there is genuinely no other explanation when there is this HUGE PILE of reasons it would be fabulous and successful and the whole thing hurts my heart.

The Cumberbatch thing... yeah. Is a shame. Particularly after they did well with the Mandarin thing, I was really hopeful about their ability/willingness to deal with how sketchy the background is.

EXACTLY. Like, every argument against it is bullshit, so the only reason left is sexism.

Particularly after they did well with the Mandarin thing, I was really hopeful about their ability/willingness to deal with how sketchy the background is.

*nod nod*

I don't foresee myself forking over $15 to see Doctor Strange at this point, unless word of mouth is utterly spectacular.
