Board meeting this morning. It went well, but I didn't get to sit at my desk and eat breakfast until 12:15. Sigh.

For me, it's that I've never liked Coulson. I didn't specifically dislike him in _Iron Man_, but I kind of sighed because the core Avengers are all white dudes, and here they had a chance to bring a little diversity into the movies, and what do we get? Bland white dude. And then he showed up in Thor and was a smug dickwad at Jane as he's destroying her life's work and I pretty much hated him from then on.

I did check out a couple of episodes of SHIELD to see if they would manage to overcome that, but really, it was mostly more bland people doing dickish things that I was still supposed to approve/like/tolerate.

See, I thought his jackbooted thug persona in Thor was fitting, because SHIELD was always supposed to be sketchy, but he also had a warmer side in the IM movies, with Pepper. But the show just made me hate him, and if you already didn't like him, the show is not going to change that.

It would be nice if she weren't but I also hope she's not evil if she comes back.

On a random note, the non surviving, non-Lucy Lawless merc was Weevil's cousin on Veronica Mars, the one whose dates with Paris Hilton were funded by stolen credit cards.

Holy crap, I would never have guessed that!

From the interviews/promos it looks like Lucy Lawless's character isn't dead! So that's one upside. I was hoping that now that Coulson's the director, they'd sideline the character more and let Melinda May run the team, but no such luck (wishful thinking, I know).

I might enjoy the show better that way. Sigh.
