I have a super-easy recipe (like, 10 minutes, tops) I've adapted to make cardamom-pistachio bittersweet fudge. You could probably mess around with it to get the consistency more frosting/icing-ish than fudge-ish and go from there?

Also, YAY for finishing MFMM! There is going to be a season 3!

That might work. I also found a recipe for pistachio pastry cream (and I'm on the hunt for some kind of pistachio cream cheese frosting recipe, but haven't found one yet), so there is definitely a possibility this cake will exist at some point.

Yay for season 3! I am excited!

Have you read Mieville's Un Lun Dun? I really liked it! There's a lot of very fun wordplay that I appreciated, and it's sort of your typical hero's quest story, but also not.

I started Railsea and just couldn't get into it. Too much gory dead mole and pathetic main character at the beginning. Does it get better pretty quickly? I think I only gave it 30 or 40 pages.

I haven't! Railsea is the only other thing of his I've read. I think if you didn't like it from the start, it doesn't really improve all that much. The worldbuilding is interesting, but I never warmed to the characters.

I adored Perdido Street Station, liked (but didn't love) The Scar, and fell at the first hurdle of Iron Council, never to rise again. I really must try his other stuff. He's certainly entertaining (though I agree that his writing isn't exactly designed to fill you with the warm fuzzies XD).

A lot of people love Perdido Street Station, but it seems like a big commitment for a writer I blow hot and cold on. I guess we'll see. He is definitely entertaining and has a way with words.
