after the destructive revivifying passion

Stuff! And also things!

1. it got cold here again. I DO NOT APPROVE. And I had to wait longer than usual for a bus this morning, so I was Not Pleased, especially since I didn't wear a fleecy under my coat.

2. I spoiled myself for Amazing Spider-man 2. On purpose, actually. ( spoilers )

channel 11 was dark

So it wasn't just us? (We've had a lot of "Please wait..." black screens lately, and TWC doesn't have a clue what's wrong, as usual.) Though in our case the image froze at 8 p.m. I changed channels to see if it was system-wide, which it wasn't, then returned to channel 11 to a black screen. It stayed black longer here. WTF, TWC?

I would've been happier if Isabel had more reason. You're telling your lover's son that you hate his father for choosing to stay with his family and wife. What kind of reaction are you expecting? Let me play the world's smallest violin for you. I'm hoping she'll be badass on the mirakuru though.

Nope, not just you! I find that if you get a lot of black screens and then the picture pops in after a couple of minutes, it means your cable box is probably on the way out. At least, I've had the experience about 5 times in the past few years, and the only solution has been for TWC to replace the box. *hands*

Yeah, it's ridiculous. But so is Slade's - he and Shado were never together! But the mirakuru has totally fucked with his head. Isabel didn't have that excuse, so I don't even know.

but I'm not sure I believe someone would actually team up with Slade - who's basically killing folks left and right - to get revenge on the family of their dead ex married lover.

Yeah, as rationale for vendettas go, that was weak. But so is Slade's reason for his vendetta against Oliver, so at least they are evenly matched? It needed more comic book grandiosity -- parents murdered, lives ruined, decades of bloodshed, whatever, instead of some weak-ass motivation you could see on a CW teen soap opera (OK, so this show is technically on CW, too, but you know what I mean). I sort of gagged at Isabel Rochev, ice-in-her-veins ruthless businesswoman and stealth badass, mentioning the word "soul mate" as the reason for turning dark, like c'mom, this is not fucking Dawson's Creek, yo.

But whatever. I am totally on board with Zombie!Isabel. I guess Ravager is her super-villain name? Awesome.

The show introduced VIBEOoooh, Cisco is gonna be a superhero? (My comic book ignorance knows no depth). On the other hand, Killer Frost kinda sounds ( ... )

Yes, their reasons are in parallel, but Slade had the mirakuru to make him all messed up in the head from the start, which Isabel hasn't, so I don't even know.

Well, not in canon - I'm just spitballing. Ravager is a legacy name for Slade Wilson's kids (and a couple of other people?) in the comics - his eldest son and his daughter both use it (the son is (was?) dead; Rose was on the Teen Titans, last I knew), but since they've apparently dropped Slade's home life entirely, him having an apprentice who ends up being Ravager might work. *hands*

Cisco is gonna be a superhero?

I guess? I don't really know much about Vibe except that he's Latino and he existed.

Trying to be non-spoilerific, I've seen Amazing Spider-Man 2. In hindsight, I should have realised that there was a strong possibility that that thing you talk about might happen, but I'd pushed it to the back of my mind. I'm still processing my response to the film. There were good things about it, but there were a lot of 'buts' too. There were some strands I was so not engaged by, but then I knew going in I'm not the target audience.

It just makes me unhappy. I get that it's iconic and all, but we don't need to see it again!

I still need to catch up on Avatar. I've seem season 1 and I loved it. I have sesason 2 ready and waiting to watch. Just gotta find the time.

I did finally see The Winter Soldier on Saturday though. It was awesome (I liked it almost as much the Avengers Assemble, which is saying something). Looking forward to seeing it again :)

Avatar only gets better and better. S2 is fantastic and I recommend watching it immediately!

I think Winter Soldier was better than Avengers! I don't think that's just my emotional investment talking, but it could be.
