where she is now I can only guess

I don't understand why the filter_id method of excluding things from searches has suddenly stopped working for me on AO3. It's bad enough I have to re-input it every time I re-open Firefox, even though I have the the script to save it installed. Arrgh. I mean, I'm also irritated because there is so little new fic posted that I want to read! But ( Read more... )

Yeah, I think it probably could look grungy white early on, but it's always been not-white.

Was it on your LJ that there was a discussion of at least having Abbie get him modern boxers?

I don't think so? But that would be good for him, I think.

Someone in my DW comments mentioned that even if they don't get him new clothes for every day, he could still go undercover in modern clothes. I would totally dig that!

Hee! Thanks for the link! I agree mostly. He could buy clothes from a re-enactor or the Amish so the style wouldn't change, but they wouldn't look like he was buried for 200 years in them! *g*

One day, I hope it will be possible to tag things as "main" vs. "past"

This. This OMG. It would solve, like 70% of the problem I have with fic searches. My usual fic preference is canon het because I am boring like that, and whenever I try to read a story by clicking on the pairing tag, it would invariably turn out to be that the canon het part of the story is either 1) a cursory nod to the canon before the the F part of the M/F is shoved aside or 2) worse yet, the canon female love interest is villified like whoa. And there is just no way to filter things out based on which one is the main pairing. SO FRUSTRATING.

And while I'm wishing for that, maybe someday people will stop reccing ship fic as gen, especially if the author labels it with a pairing and it has porn for that pairing in it!Another one of my pet peeves. I can sorta see why an Avengers fic with background established Tony/Pepper is labelled as gen since that's part of the canon (although I raise my eyebrow at labelling something with porn "gen") but I get irritated ( ... )

Believe me, I know that feel. I mean, in the particular case in my current fandom filtering out this one pairing means I solve that problem for three other pairings, only two of which are canon het, so having it not work is really irritating for me right now. But I yearn for the day when it doesn't have to be like that, when it can be split by main and background or main and past or what have you.

(although I raise my eyebrow at labelling something with porn "gen") As I said, I can see it in certain circumstances with certain characters, but that is when the sex is not relationship focused - if it's a prostitute AU that is actually about a ( ... )

I realize this is only a problem if you have very strong NOTPs, but I do! And it's all about me!

Or even just when your fandom has a juggernaut pairing that you're not interested in. Being able to exclude Dean/Castiel hugely improves my AO3 reading experience, and I don't even mind D/C that much. Just, generally when I'm browsing, I'm interested in other things.

Yes, that too. I mean, e.g., I don't hate Sterek, but I don't really care about it either.

But in Avengers, my NOTP is the fandom juggernaut pairing, which is problematic for me.

Is that Clint/Coulson? Is it the juggernaut now? Or is Steve/Tony still in the lead?

Steve/Tony.

I just have a massive indifference towards Clint/Coulson. I don't read it - it bores me - but I don't hate it.

I just want them to stop replacing my Magneto tag with Erik Lensherr. Because that's not what he wants to be called. And I am aware how crazed that sounds.

Can you get them to maybe add "Magneto" to it? Like Logan/Wolverine? Because otherwise I think you're fighting a losing battle.

I hadn't thought of that. I have a plan.

as much as i love ichabod's period clothes - and as much as i love him IN his period clothes - or out of them, i mean i wouldn't mind if he had to be shirtless again - i'd love to see abbie taking him shopping, just because ichabod vs the twenty-first century is one of my favorite things. he doesn't have to wear any of the clothes she will no doubt buy him (does he have any money of his own? is he condemned to be basically a kept man? is it wrong that i'm ok with this?), he just has to try them on and make baffled and snarky comments. i'm easy. :D

and yeah, it does seem like abbie's been sidelined in favor of ichabod and exposition witch katrina. and that's not right.

He could go undercover in modern clothes! And I do want to see some actual shopping scenes where he's astounded, and not a little judgy, about the sheer amount of STUFF on display.

I AM SO HERE FOR THAT.
