So the ZzzQuil thing worked pretty well last night - at least, I slept for most of the night, except between 4am - 5am, but you can't have everything, right? Almost Human was the only new tv show this year to actually live up to the hype for me. And while one episode (especially since it's the pilot) is not nearly enough to say something definite about the writing and the characters, the visual side was breathtaking. And not just mean the skyline--so many of the scenes were visual references to Blade Runner, up to the point where the scene at the food stall had to be a conscious quote. I can't wait to see if they'll keep it up.

I enjoyed it. I don't remember Blade Runner well enough to know that there were direct callbacks, but so far, the show is holding my interest.

I've dug up my copy of Blade Runner yesterday (as you do when the last thing you should be doing is procrastinating) and the callbacks were definitely there, but they were not as blatant as I've thought at first. Which is a good thing I guess, that they were able to evoke it without directly copying.

Yesterday's episode, though, was so chock full of poor choices. I'm still giving it a chance and hoping it gets better, but it's so terribly uneven. :(
