ugh, work. This day is so fired. Let's just trash the whole week and start over on Monday.

It's Wednesday, and that means book talk:

What I just finished reading

Midnight Blue-Light Special by Seanan McGuire. It's a lot of fun, a really quick read, tighter and faster-paced than the first book, possibly because it has less exposition to weigh ( Read more... )

I loved the mid-book POV switch. Sarah even got her own dingbat!

Dean is still my least favorite of Rory's boyfriends, though. He's a nice boy but kind of a yawn, and I can't forgive the stuff he does later.
I really liked early Dean! He was my favorite.

Aw, GG.

I think if Sarah had had an earlier chapter or two - or another one later on - I would have liked it better.

I really liked early Dean! He was my favorite.

He was a great first boyfriend, but I never loved him.

Spoilers: Rory grows up to marry Connor. Apparently she and VK are engaged. Weird.

Was Gilmore Girls set in California? Maybe they met at Stanford post memory wipe.

...

Wait, wasn't dude from SPN in Gilmore Girls too? Not the one who went to Stanford, but still. Fandoms. all. colliding.

Yes, and yes, the one who went to Stanford. Gilmore Girls was set in Connecticut, but maybe Rory did a semester at Stanford! It could all work out.

I disliked all of Rory's boyfriends. Logan in particular was such an entitled douchebag that it took me the longest time to warm up to Cary on The Good Wife.

I think I have the one who beat all of them on "OH RORY NO" sweepstakes though: Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser just got engaged. OK fine, I am basing most of my OH NOES feelings on Kartheiser's two main roles, i.e. patricidal feral child from the Hell Dimension (Connor from Angel) vs. rapist shitweasel junior advertising executive (his Mad Men character). Plus a couple of interviews I read with him that made him sound kinda unhinged.

RUN RORYYYY

As a long time VK fan I kinda wanna defend him here. But he is a bit..whackadoodle. Although neither a rapist nor raised in a hell dimension, as far as I can tell.

I was mostly saying that with tongue in cheek. :) No offense to long-time BK fans! (I actually loved Connor and would totally pick him first over Pete Campbell in a pick-up game in a heartbeat.) Based on n=2, he does seem to excel at playing seriously unbalanced people though!

Oh no I totally get it! No offense taken! (I'm not that kind of fan, I promise.)

Also you do not lie: boy does crazy like nobody's business.
