So I have been thinking of buying a new tv for the past couple of years. Some of you who've been around a while might remember the saga of my last television, where I watched things without sound for months before finally buying a new tv, only to discover it was the cable box causing the problems all along ( Read more... )

I'm actually pretty surprised that they accepted my Hawkeye (Comics) nomination with both Clint Barton and Kate Bishop approved. I didn't find the faq on what makes a fandom eligible or ineligible until after I'd nominated and figured after reading it that even though I pretty much consider Hawkeye Comics 2012 Clint to be a very different dude than the Clint in the movie, the reviewer might not see it my way. Yay!

Yeah, that is surprising, considering they didn't accept a Natasha Romanoff from another property and Clint's in way more fic than Natasha is. I wouldn't get too attached just yet.

I think Housing Works does appliance pickup for donations but idk if they'd be super excited by a 6-y-o CRT teevee. Salvation Army definitely does but they are an oppressive bag of hateful dicks, so. *hands*

I thought Housing Works only did it if you had a certain number of large items. But Best Buy has a service will take the old tv away. Or so they assure me. They charged me and made an appointment, anyway.

If you are comfortable with Craigslist people coming over to your apartment, you could list it in the free section with the stipulation that the television must be picked up and moved by the taker. I've done it with old laundry machines and with a love seat once; worked like a charm both times, and I didn't have to make something happen inside normal business hours.

Luckily, Best Buy has a service that will take away the old tv, so I don't have to deal with random strangers. I can deal with strangers who are paid to take it away instead. *g*

Yeah, I plan to label all the existing cables so I can figure it all out when I need to. Hopefully that will work. *g* I just really like the idea of having a tv set I can maneuver instead of one that just sits there like a bump on a log because it's so goddamn heavy and large.
