like a star that can't wait for a night

So I am kind of getting excited about The Amazing Spider-man despite myself, because PETER PARKER IS MY FOREVER FAVORITE SUPERHERO and Martin Sheen is Uncle Ben. Sadly, it seems the midnight shows are on Monday night, not Tuesday as I anticipated, so I guess that's out. I would have done it on 7/3 (7/4) because obviously, 7/4 is the holiday, and ( Read more... )

Sounds good! How do you feel about Chelsea? It's there at 6:30 on 7/3. I don't know that I'm getting out early that day, and the other times are 5:40 at the Regal on 42nd and 5:50 at Kips Bay...

I will email you. *g*

I've loved Spidey and Peter Parker since the 1967 Gantray-Lawrence TV cartoon, and devoured the comics when I discovered them shortly thereafter.

So I'm pretty eager to see this one, too. Andrew Garfield looks more like Peter to me than Tobey McGuire. I mean, Tobey was awesome in the role, but they couldn't have combed his hair back and given him a widow's peak and a comma of hair falling over his right eyebrow? Really?

Yeah, I actually just created this icon to memorialize the cartoon that introduced me to Spidey. Thanks for reminding me!

I don't know if that's the cartoon I watched as a kid in the 70s/early 80s, but I did love a Spidey cartoon as a kid, and I read the strip in the paper every day for years. I don't know - my brother was always big into Superman and everyone else always picks Batman, but Spider-man has always been my favorite.

While this advertising campaign focusing on his parents doesn't thrill me, I hope that it is better than the marketing and you're right, Garfield does look more like Peter on first glance and the quips in the ads have been pretty funny and also in character. So I guess we'll see.
