apparently if I see someone posting about Bucky Barnes, I cannot resist the impulse to simply comment with ♥BUCKY♥ and move on. I am all full of love that cannot be contained. Bucky, you guys! How is he so awesome? (This is much easier than being all ♥JASON♥ at people, because most people do not actually hate Bucky, even if they hate that he came ( Read more... )

comics: batgirl, this is captain america calling, it's a sickness, chris evans' undeniable attractions, bulletproof kinks, flove, bucky barnes has a robot arm, formerly dead sidekicks for the win, i am okay with that!

The same thing happened to me with Push. I think you hit the nail on the head with the comparison to Dark Angel, which I actually adored. I think it really was the relationship between Nick and Cassie that did it for me - those two just clicked so well it was almost frightening. Whether as a kind of big brother/little sister thing, I love it either way.

And yes for dead sidekicks ♥ ♥ ♥

I really liked Dark Angel, too. Well, I liked the characters a lot and the world and the premise. The execution was iffy, but that is what fic is for.

*nod nod*

It's the most important/interesting thing in the movie, really.

I feel your pain! I'm having a real problem with running around the internet going Bucky!Bucky!Bucky! all the time too! Indeed, how is he so awesome? ^__^

I need to learn more about Jason... any recommendations where to start? I've really only run across him in crossovers with Bucky... Yes, I have a problem... ;-)

Personally, I started with the animated movie "Under the Red Hood," which I think did a really good job with his story without all the extraneous comics canon stuff that is just either ridiculous or confusing, plus it has Jensen Ackles as Jason and Neil Patrick Harris as Dick.

After you've watched it, I think reading the comic it's based on, "Under the Hood," is worthwhile, even though the explanation for how Jason comes back is different (it is a lot more heartbreaking in the comic, but also more full of the kind of WTFery only comics can provide). And then "Red Hood: The Lost Days," is the story of where he was in the time between coming back and coming to Gotham. I would avoid anything else.

"Red Hood and the Outlaws" gives good Jason so far, imo, but the horror it wreaks on Roy and Kory's characters is probably not worth it.

Thanks! Under the Red Hood is now at the top of my Netflix queue. Mmmm, if I'd realized Jensen Ackles and NPH were voicing it,I'd have watched it sooner!

Unfortunately, I have to watch The Covenant first... *sigh* The things I do for my fandom obsessions. :-O

OMG! Just finished watching "Under the Red Hood"...excellent movie! Thank you for the recommendation! But now I've got to go read all the fan fiction! ;-)

It makes me wish that TPTB would make a similarly good animated Winter Soldier movie. Although I'm sure that he will eventually show up in the live action Marvel movies (and I'd never turn down more Sebastian Stan), I'm afraid he'll get short-changed there...

Oh, Push. I think your comparisons with Dark Angel and, obviously, Wolverine/Rogue, are really apt. It's partly the world, partly the relationship. And yes, she's 13!!!, but there's all the chemistry (and the attractive world PLUS plot-holes thing). I came out of the cinema wanting to play in that 'verse, and was relieved to find that I wasn't the only one who fell for Nick/Cassie. If you're looking for more fic, there might be something you haven't come across on this recpost.

Ah, thanks for that recs list. There is stuff on it I hadn't found yet.

Exactly!

and was relieved to find that I wasn't the only one who fell for Nick/Cassie.

That is the best part about fandom - you are almost never the only one. *g*
