As you've no doubt seen everywhere else on the internet, The Boy Who Lived Forever - I was really impressed with how positive the story was. The only quibble I had was over how he talked about warnings, but I think that's more of an inside baseball kind of discussion and wouldn't have fit in a Fandom 101 piece like this one was ( Read more... )

Re. your third paragraph: YES to everything, including the transfer of my love from Remus to Sirius. Not that I stopped loving Remus; my love for Sirius just blazed.

Exactly! I still love Remus, but I don't really get angry on his behalf, whereas if people talk shit about Sirius I am all OH NO YOU DIDN'T! YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW!

I feel like Remus made his own mess in HBP and onwards (with the help of Molly and Tonks, of course) whereas Sirius went out with a tragic, senseless, stupid big while trying to rescue Harry. And people celebrated when he died! That just burned me up. It still pisses me off. GRRRRR, back away from my guy.

Even the damn spider got some sort of memorial. But my Sirius? Basically forgotten. I think I'm still bitter.

Oh, I'm TOTALLY still bitter.

Yes, exactly. And I always knew that Remus was more important to me as a character than he was to the narrative post-PoA (i mean, he could have been more important, but Rowling chose not to tell that story), whereas Sirius WAS important all the way through and and only got that stupid, stupid death and then people denigrating him for it afterwards.

I know I'm in the minority, but no one in the Potterverse fills me with as much rage as Molly Weasley, and this is just another reason why.

I do like Molly a lot, but jesus, I wanted her to just shut the fuck up in that scene.

Of the many things I'm not ever getting over about OotP, Molly throwing the 13 years Sirius spent in Azkaban in his face as a reason for him not to have a say in Harry's life is right up there. So much rage.

EXACTLY.

I think she was at her worst in OotP, although DH, especially as they were getting ready for the wedding, is a pretty close second. Her insistence on treating everyone as if they were all five years old is infuriating. I understand it comes from fear, but I don't care.

Hee! I know you know I agree with you. I am going to be bitter about Sirius long after I'm dead. Trufax.
