Sigh. Reading all this mediocre to awful Katara/Zuko fic makes me want to rewrite ALL of it to fit characterization-wise with the show I actually watched, rather than whatever show those folks were watching. I mean, arranged marriage! fake dating! sparring-as-foreplay! drunken stumbles! ten year reunions that end in awkward mornings after! It's all ( Read more... )

hoods and birds, shoes, comics: batman and robin, you should totally write that, tv: atla, shopping

I think if you usually wear a medium width shoe, it shouldn't be as much of a problem? I tend to buy wide width shoes because they allow more room, and these are just standard medium width. If they had any elasticity in the straps at all, I wouldn't have the problem, but they just don't seem inclined to stretch even a little bit quickly enough. We'll see, though. I plan to wear them around the house until the weekend before I make a final decision.

Yes, fanfic can sometimes really be an original story with names tkaen from a show. In some fandoms, that's a good thing IMHo (case in point: Twilight), but in ATLA it's not so good.

Avocado_love is a really good author, though she's now moved onto other fandoms, and she never really wrote Zutara. But this story's put a ncie twist on that pairing:

Yeah, I mean, I think some of it is just that I'm finding older stuff, written before season 3? But some of it is just... the desire for a specific type of relationship dynamic that doesn't necessarily fit the relationship Zuko and Katara actually have. Which happens with a lot of fanfic, I guess.

Anyway. Thanks for the link. I will definitely check it out.

I haven't even bothered to search out Zuko/Katara fic - even though part of me desperately wants to read it - because I can already sense how it's going to go just based on the very very little fandom interactions I've seen. Sigh. I feel like I always ship the couples who have some of the worst selections of fanfic. Heh.

You're wiser than I am. Heh. I've sort of randomly been sifting through FF.net via the favorite stories of someone whose story I actually liked. So far, though, I haven't found anything worth telling other people about.
