the WHOLE REASON the two universes are in this mess is because Walter broke through to the other universe to save him! So no Peter, no breach in the fabric of space-time! So shouldn't everybody have vanished to their own altered, Peter-less lives? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

TIME TRAVEL PARADOX. Just go with it. WHEEEEEE FRINGE!

(homg that was amazing)

ETA: All the words in the opening were different, I believe -- and it was neither blue nor red, but grey.

Yeah, I try not to think too hard about it but that bit just won't settle.

All the words in the opening were different, I believe -- and it was neither blue nor red, but grey.

I noticed the change in color scheme, but was too busy explaining things to the parents to catch the words. Cool.

I think all the words were different because they'd have new Fringe-y things in 2026 then they have in 2011.

Maybe they'll explain how it happened once the next season begins -- maybe a few episodes in once Peter returns.

Aha - looks like a hint from the writers' room of Fringe on Twitter last night:TeaKayBlue @JWFringe: Since Peter now never existed, what new reason is there for the tears in the universes?

ARejectSoShy @TeaKayBlue @JWFringe: The reason for Walter to cross over changed but that doesn't mean he would never do it.

JWFringe @ARejectSoShy: Exactly. Walter and Bell were working on crossing over before Walter used the tech/knowledge to get Peter.
So it looks like there was another cause for Walter to cross over, and we'll probably find out what it was in 4th season.

WOOO!

The House o'Squid had a lively debate about the "But if Peter never existed, why is this even happening?" issue, and we've decided that it boils down to Observer Magic, or possibly Walter Is A Time Lord.

I would go with either of those explanations! Or we could blame Belly. Can we blame Belly?

My issue with the Peter thing, is not only is he the reason Walter went over, he is pretty much the basis of who Walter and Walternate ARE at the current moments in time we see. Their reasons/purposes have always been about Peter. So no Peter, ever existing, just uh, huh.

And on a more personal level, I Just like Peter and he's one of the main reason I watch the damn show as much as I love the whole cast, he is a part that whole.

I like Peter, but I'm okay with him not being around for a bit. I feel like we spent a little too much time focused on his Special Destiny (tm) at the end, and not enough on Olivia. I'm sure he'll be back eventually, but I'm looking forward to a couple of episodes without him being central.

There's a FRINGE event in NYC at the Paley Center on 5/17. Any chance you're interested in going and meeting me for the FIRST TIME EVER despite my having known you for most of my fannish life? :D? :D?

I am TOTALLY interested in going! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to buy tickets when they go on sale tomorrow, because I will be at work, though. Will you be able to do that and I can reimburse you?

:D I think the whole point of Booster Gold at the beginning of 52 is to be obnoxious. He grows up a lot in it but the whole thing with the fake tear for Superboy is guaranteed to be unlikeable. I mostly just skipped the parts that I didn't find interesting and as I read the first volume last (that's libraries for you) I missed most of the really terrible Booster bits.

I'm actually rather fond of him now but it took a while.
