call me back when your boyfriend is gone

Man, there's nothing worse* than a misplaced baby (eta: as in a term of endearment, not an actual, real, live infant) in a sex scene to throw me right out. I mean, I get that it can be endearing or hot in the right circumstances and with the right characters (for values of "right" that equal "circumstances or characters where that works for me"), ( Read more... )

i won't read your fic if, i am okay with that!

Man, I'm so glad you added the eta in the first sentence because the first time I read it I was like, "wha-huh?!". I do completely agree, however, that the use of the term baby is icky. Frankly, I hate just about anytime someone calls their significant other babe or baby or babes both in real life and in fiction.

Veronica Mars!! I lent my season one dvds to a good friend 6 months ago and they haven't returned them yet nor have they watched a single episode. Maybe I need to stop considering them good friends because ignoring Veronica is just NOT ON.

I think it can work in certain scenarios with certain characters, but generally, it just doesn't.

Maybe I need to stop considering them good friends because ignoring Veronica is just NOT ON.

Is it wrong that I now want someone to do a "Misplaced Baby" Fic Challenge?

No, not as long as it's about stories with an actual misplaced infant!

I am SO with you on the "baby" thing. It always makes me take a deep breath before I can forge ahead and read the rest of fic, but it makes me wonder what else I might encounter in the story that'll make me twitchy.

There's one character in one of my fandoms I could see saying that, the first time, but his partner would then definitely slap the shit out him hard enough he'd never do it again.

So. Yeah. No more babies! *g*

There's this one story I really like otherwise, but I couldn't bring myself to rec it because every time I reread it, I stumble over the 'baby' and the way the character who gets called that doesn't say something about it! He totally would mock!

(Once, a long time ago, I was supposed to write a story where Dean called Sam "baby" the first time they had sex and Sam just couldn't stop laughing. He was all, "Is that what you call your lady friends? Seriously? You say my name a million times a day, but right this second, you couldn't remember it?" And Dean is just like, "Shut up.")

Heee :D Oh, boys. :)

Can't you just picture it? I think it'd be hilarious.
