who can say where they're blowing?

So last night with dessert, I had an iced mochaccino, and even though I thought I'd eaten enough to make it not a problem, I was up until 4:30 am, and then I was awake at 7:30 am. Caffeine + PMS-insomnia = no sleep for victoria. Sigh.

It did give me time to watch all the stuff that was backlogged, so, in brief:

Bones

spoilers )

tv: undercovers, batman, tv: hawaii five-o, tv: bones, tv: teen titans

I watched the first two eps of Hawaii Five-O last night and it is indeed very shiny. (Literally, too, what with all those ocean panoramas and oiled-up bodies.) I am so with you on all the characters. I kept shouting at the lead dude "LISTEN TO YOUR SCRUFFY JERSEY PARTNER, MAYBE YOU CAN LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT HOW NOT TO BE A CREEPER THUG FROM HIM." That's probably not what we're meant to be shouting at the screen, alas.

But mostly I want Daniel Dae Kim to be on screen 150% of the time. That would be excellent.

I'm already tired of this storyline and Brennan's continued insistence that love doesn't exist.

You know, the more I think about it, the more this storyline actually kind of offends me. I mean, here we have Bones, who is very clearly meant to be one of the most intelligent, most competent people ever in the universe; a scientist who clearly understands the need for rational thought and scientific method when exploring new things. It is highly illogical that a character with the thought processes she displays would categorically deny the existence of something for which she has seen so many examples in her day to day life.

The annoying part is that now they're kind of portraying her as "look, even the really smart lady is helpless in the face of silly womanly irrational feelings lolz! oh wimmins you so crazy when you are the victim of your hormonal emotions!" Which, wtf.

It appears I am having some irrational feelings of crazy right now, actually. Hrm.

I'm more annoyed by the fact that it's S6 and we have apparently had no character growth? I mean, you could plop this episode back in the first 3 seasons and no one would know.

I think Hanson believes his audience cares about this 'ship way more than they actually do.

Yeah, I mean, I know there are rabid shippers out there - you see them in the comments on EW.com etc. - but overall, I wish they'd just pull the trigger or let it go. It was fine for three seasons, but now it's gone on too long..

And Hanson's talking about eight seasons. Dude, I wouldn't wait eight seasons for the messiah, ok?

i totally agree with you on hawaii five-0. especially danny's points about the torture! and i like mcgarrett the least of everyone, altho him trying to give danny a fashion lesson on how to look like a local - and danny saying i don't want to look like a local, i want to look like a detective from jersey - was really cute. also danny + little kids is my new happy place. "who doesn't like hippos?" aww.

INORITE? So adorable. They're really lucky everyone else is so personable, because wow, they made McGarrett a douche.

I didn't really pick up on an OT3 vibe between the Blooms and Nash, but that probably was because I really just wanted to punch Nash in the neck, repeatedly. Maybe it's because I missed the pilot and therefore some of Nash's characterization.

He is very annoying, but I think the pilot gives even more info on how he was involved with both of them previously, which makes it more understandable.

(Icon from a show set where they have palm trees. Best I can do, I fear!)

You seem to be my go-to place to comment about Hawaii Five-Oh, for some reason.

I think this is my guilty pleasure show of the new season. When I was very little, I was a huge fan of the original series, though by the time my age was in the double digits, only the theme song appealed to me. This one gets my loyalty with an opening credit sequences that brilliantly updates the original, putting stuff in floating computer screens to say "This is not your father's Hawaii Five-Oh," but reproducing a lot of the original shot-by-shot, with a theme song they had screwed up originally, but fixed by the time they got on the air ( ... )

It is very definitely a MANLY MAN SHOW FOR MEN.

I have to love a show that has a hero who tortures a suspect/witness in the first act, and in the tag has him administering an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Stateof Hawaii.

Yeah, I thought that was hilarious, though I'm pretty sure the show was not looking for that reaction.
