Meh. I woke up from one of those deeply vivid and long anxiety dreams this morning and it was fucking with my head. Part of it is PMS, but part of it is being unable to shake that anxious yet groggy feeling of helplessness. Ugh. there's actually a group devoted to trying to get the rest of the world to call hungarians "magyars" (which is what they call themselves, and their governmental stuff - i remember being so excited getting mail with stamps that said "magyar posta" on them when i was little) because the term hungarian is derogatory, historically.

since, obviously, no one in europe liked those huns. and they are magyars! not huns!

it's actually a fascinating country, historically. so much invasion and push and pull and negative narratives that downplayed their counterpart's roles . . .

but yeah. so when i see "hun", i also think, wait, what?

The one that drives me nuts is "mute point", which I not only hear people say but see in print! In published books! And then I flash back to The Princess Bride and "I do not think that word means what you think it means."

Mute != moot LOL
