the tree's shadow and your shadow

This is probably me being cranky and defensive, but god, I really hate that Diesel ad campaign. "Be stupid." It says things like, "Smart critiques. Stupid creates." And on an intellectual level, I get what they're trying (and failing!) to say (otoh, maybe they're not trying to say that at all, so it is exactly what it seems and just WRONG ARRGH!), ( Read more... )

I also watched last night's Criminal Minds, which made me cry.

That bit at the end with the man saying "He was alive...yesterday" was the one of the cruelest things they've had on the show so far.

It didn't make me cry, but it came awfully close.

It is totally not you being cranky and defensive. Those adverts drive me to distraction and I don't even have to talk past them every day. Argh, "stupid" doesn't achieve anything except stupidity. I am all on board with different types of smart: intuitive spontaneous smartness, analytical methodical smartness, uptight smart, fluid smart, flexible and rigid, all of it, but argh being stupid never helped anyone. It just makes me think of this.

Argh, apparently I have issues.

Yes! Exactly! It's just WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL. SO ANNOYING.

Plus, Zachariah the coroner
That's why he looks familiar! I knew the name Kurt Fuller was recognizable for some reason.

Heh. Yes. He's also been on "Glee" as the tv station manager where Sue does her commentary.

So, I went to the Diesel website to see this 'be stupid' stuff. A quarter of the video I thought 'that's a nice sentiment' and then they went and ruined it as soon as the started shooting down smart people. :/ I am not amused.

But that poem is lovely. It makes me think of Sam without Dean. I'm not sure if you've already written a fic about Sam in the hours after Dean's deal comes due, but if you haven't, that seems like a very ampt title to me. :)

man, criminal minds made me cry like a baby. parts of it were actively cruel - the bit la_perkins mentioned, my god - but also charlie taking pictures of the new kids and making them tell him their names, and the fact that sarah had been tracking missing kids for EIGHT YEARS and covered a wall with the info she gathered, and of all the kids that had been taken, only three were still alive. HEART. BREAKING. and also creepy without being gross. good show, show. but so kleenex-heavy.

i am very jealous of your four-day weekend.
