The Percy Jackson books are fun. The writing and characterizations are good enough that the predictability didn't bother me. I mean, they're definitely for kids, but fun for adults too.

Yes! That's it exactly. I'd be reading and think to myself, Oh, I know what's gonna happen next, and I'd be right, but perfectly okay with it! I just plain enjoyed them.

I've got book five waiting for my weekend to arrive.

The predictability totally doesn't detract from the enjoyment. I guess I'll start book four now. *g*

I read the first Percy Jackson and then had to wait weeks for the second book, but by that time I had the third and fourth one lined up. ...Somehow I found myself at 4.30 in the morning having blazed through three of them in one go. Weirdly addictive.

Yeah, they're definitely addictive - they have a nice yet relentless forward motion.
