like the sweat of lovers laying in the field

This afternoon I made cinnamon-chocolate sour cream cake. It came out well. I gave the whole thing away to fleurdeleo, though. It was too sweet or too something for me. I don't know. This happens to me a lot when I bake - I often don't want to eat whatever it is after a small bite. We went out for our traditional "We're having a blizzard, let's go to the bar ( Read more... )

i won't read your fic if, we make our own fun, adventures in cooking, it's a sickness

Never heard kripked before, but have heard (and used) jossed. I did an awesome Sirius/Remus Marauders-era fic that got totally jossed when Book 5 came out. Darn JK Rowling and the hippogriff she rode in on. ;)

Kripked is an SPN fandom coinage, because the fandom has done a fairly good job in anticipating the show in a number of things. But I see people use it interchangeably with jossed, and that's not what it means in my understanding, and it makes me a little crazy.

I think 99.44% of fic is eventually jossed in one way or another, though when it happens while I'm in the middle of writing it, I find it hard to keep going.

i didn't know kripked and jossed were fanfic/fandom terms! goes to show how out of the loop i am when it comes to these things.

and i can't stand people who ship max/alec but hate max. i get that not everyone likes her and i get why, but then do yourself and everyone who may read it a favor and leave her out of your fanfic.

You are absolutely right on Kripked and Jossed and it bugs me when people use them wrong.

And hating one half of a pairing is maddening. For quite a while in popslash, a lot of folks hated Justin Timberlake, but they kept writing him as half of their OTPs and it drove me crazy. Much of it was apology!fic, which is infuriating in its own right. If you hate one half of a pairing and you're only writing a story so he can come to realize the extent of his suckitude and then grovels for forgiveness. I don't wanna read it.

Yeah, it was a bit of an issue there for a while.

It happens in every fandom, but it is really out of hand with Dark Angel. I mean, I get why people don't like Max? But then don't put her in your stories! I avoid writing characters I hate because it's not fun for me or for people reading my stories when there is just a constant litany of how awful a person they are!

Yeah, with Justin there was a definite agenda, and a very divided fandom, because he was blamed for breaking up NSYNC. It occasionally got ugly.

I had no idea that was what kripked meant! I'd assumed it was made up by people in SPN that thought jossed was originally meant to have to do with Joss Whedon (the word is actually much older than that), and had decided to reinvent it for their fandom. Iiiinteresting.

Ooh, I didn't know that? Where does it come from, in the fandom sense?

I meant that I'm pretty sure it's an actual word, outside of fandom.

"Joss" (as in joss sticks) and "Jossed" as in the name are, but I didn't think "jossed" was, so I was hoping that you knew the origin or some sources. If you run across one, let me know!

Jossed and Kripked mean exactly what you think they mean, but some SPN fans use them both to mean jossed! No! Wrong!

I'm glad it's not me! I am always like, "I do not think that term means what you think it means," but then I'm like, "Maybe I've got it wrong?" It is very confusing.
