Okay, I know, FULL of cheese, horrible monster, bad narrative. Still. There's so much character work in this ep--so many clues to who these guys are that will play out later on. We get hurt Dean and protective Sam, we get Sam to the rescue early on, we get Dean handing over the keys to the car, and "Saving people, hunting things: the family business." Plus Gina Holden and CKR!
It took some time to mellow with age, but (ignoring the clunk) Wendigo is one of the defining episodes of S1 for me.
