I immediately thought Richards when he said Keith. ♥
I mean, "this whole industry runs on absent fathers" was to me less about the sex industry and more about hunting (in the text) and the show (metatextually).
Thank you for this spin on Dean's otherwise utterly idiotic reaction. I won't bore you with the various reasons it left me so slack-jawed, but it's nice to see a reason that makes some sense, even if it does kind of require a sideways reading of the scene.
I'm still trying to scrub the end of last night's ep off my skin. Dean's whole "I'm happy now, like really happy. And you and me are having so much fun now that my albatross of a brother is gone," just...ick. I buy that he's meant to be trying to convince himself, but Jensen just played it too believably for me, and I just feel all...idek. Yucky. Though I did like Castiel's kind of horrified look when he said it. At least, I think that's what it was. I'll have to re-watch, but did he look kind of horrified to you?

yeah, just as it was, it was a completely appalling remark, but I really do think it was meant to refer to how people become hunters when their families are ripped apart, and how the show started with an absent father, and is coming around full circle to that theme this season.

Yeah, I think Castiel looked a little appalled there, but I also think Dean was lying - I think he certainly felt relief, and I think he had fun, but I think it was also a recreation of fun he'd had with Sam, and with slotting Castiel in Sam's role.
queen latifah would be a fabulous god. or jane lynch. and jane lynch is like six feet tall - if she wore heels she could look dean in the eye. heee.
also, yes, "this whole industry runs on absent fathers" was totally a commentary on the show. it really is about sons (and daughters, if you want to include jo) and their missing dads, isn't it.
yeah, Jane Lynch as god would command serious respect, and not a little fear, which I would enjoy.

Yeah, that's how I took it.
