I am generally pretty good at not getting upset at fandom's foibles, but this feels so pervasive to me - it's not at Spike levels yet, but it's a similar phenomenon, where the fans make me dislike a character even more than I already do.

I didn't know that you had people slagging a character you liked in your own posts; that is beyond rude.

Yeah. I find that people feel their right to comment overrides common courtesy. Of course, you're not really allowed to point out their rudeness. Then you're oppressing them.

Not that I did any of that. I have learned to shrug and say "mileage varies."

It was bad enough when Dean did it, but now they're all doing it! What the hell!?

I would simply prefer the female characters on the show to stay alive, present, and awesome. And not slagged.

See, I was rarely in direct contact with wank in HP. The Remus/Sirius corner was fairly wank-free. So I learned to cultivate amusement at most of it.

...but the show has utterly failed to make me like his character (4.16 made me seriously dislike him, and possibly that is an understatement *snerk*), and all the gushing I see about him has just made me dislike him more.

I feel like this is a case of "good idea, poor execution" on behalf of the show (which is kinda par for the course, imo), but the outpouring of fannish devotion is like the lemon juice on the papercut of my feelings, you know?

I feel like I could just say a giant 'word' to your paragraph on Castiel. I do like Misha, he seems nice, but Castiel is an entire other story.

I hope that your computer starts working properly again soon!

Hell, I like Castiel on the show just fine and even I am sick and effing tired of seeing people gush all over him on my flist. Which is possibly unfair of me to say but by GOD there are other things to talk about on the show, people! I swear! He's not like Tinkerbell where if you stop paying attention to him he'll die!!

It is getting to remind me of how I felt about Spike - I was irritated he was on the show after season 4, but dealing, but the devoted fans just make it 1000x worse.

I liked Bela and I like Castiel (at least when he has sense enough to question stupid orders). Not-very-serious question: Would you like Castie better if he brought Bela back?

I would love for Bela to come back somehow. As a demon, as a ghost, something! I was denied my angry up against the wall Dean/Bela sex!
