the whistle makes me their god

I really do not understand why the CW - or WPIX, the NYC CW affiliate - is showing SPN in fullscreen rather than widescreen. When "Afterschool Special" first aired, it was letterboxed, and now it's not. Why would they do that? What is the point? It makes absolutely no sense to me ( Read more... )

tv: supernatural, tv: bones, i am okay with that!

It is very annoying, and they've been doing it since the last mini-hiatus.

*nod nod*

I really don't get it - I don't think it saves them money either, and it's just irritating.

the episodes are filmed in widescreen, right?

As far as I know, yeah. It just makes no sense. Yet another network decision that we will never understand.

I'm with you about the full screen thing. Directors must cringe when they realize how often their composition gets ruined that way.

God, those creepy mannequins. I hear you. Can they really sell clothes that way?

I've never made it at home, but I've always liked the bakery version.

We have one HD-compatible tv in the house. The HD channels often show a programs in widescreen while the non-HD channels displays the same show, at the same time, in fullscreen.

This is especially irritating when I know the show is really filmed in widescreen, because you can tell the shots aren't framed right in fullscreen. :(

Huh. I don't even know if I have HD channels. I've never checked. I think my tv is HD-ready, whatever that means.

Yes. It is bad and they should stop doing it!

When did you get your cable box? I had mine from late 2001, and when New Guy tried to get HD cable in 2007 it wasn't compatible. He had to get a different box from TWNYC. So the problem may be with the box, not the tv.

I got it in... August of 2007? It was pretty recent, anyway, and I got the tv at the same time. Maybe it's not HD itself but is HD compatible? I forget.

I hate those mannequin commercials so much. I cringe every time they come on.

I mute them. I mean, I mute most commercials, but those are especially creepy.
