( It's dark and they're in a hurry, so neither of them notices it at first, the way Dean's shadow lags, spooling out behind him like a sweater unraveling. )

Aww, boys! I love the image of Sam sewing Dean's shadow back on (and Dean is the Boy Who Never Grew Up in so many ways, even as he's way too old for his age in other ways), and you really convey the affection between them and the warmth -- both emotional and literal -- of the scene.
