Thanks for writing such a fascinating post. I'd made the connection before, but I don't really know enough about midrash to have real thoughts on it.

The Chaucer blog is made of win: "Yonge clerk Tristram Canterbury soore loveth the receptioniste Ysolde Beesley, but sche ys to be marryed to an oothir man. Yet Tristrames loue sickenesse preventeth hym not from makinge an ape of the haughtie clerke Gareth de Schrute, who oftymes findeth hys quill and ink put ynto a jello mold. Both Tristram and Ysolde mocke Gareth, callinge hym 'Beaumains'."

Have you read the Britney Spears one? "Whanne hath Maitre Geoffrey y-pissed upon yower Cheerieaux?"

So Mama Petrelli has some kind of persuasive power that requires touching?

Yeah, if you go back to last season, you'll notice several scenes in which she's trying to convince someone (usually Nathan) to do her bidding and she has to touch him on shoulder or back in order to do it. It was 50/50 for me that she had persuasion or prophetic dreaming as her power; once they revealed Devaux had the dream power, I figured she had to have persuasion.

but Sarah/Casey, man! "You called me partner." And her smile! SO CUTE!

Seriously! How are they pushing Chuck/Sarah at us when they have that to play with! *sobs* (Or Chuck/Casey, since Chuck seems to be so in awe of Casey's chiseled jaw.)

I don't know, I think Sarah/Casey is adorable, and maybe if the show goes on for a while, we'll get some.

When you're being chased and you can fly or turn invisible, I suggest you use those skills

I thought that too but decided since the Haitian was chasing him, maybe he was also suppressing Peter's powers so Peter couldn't do any of those things to get away.

I think the Haitian is also making everyone forget his name, that's the only explanation for why he still doesn't have one. ;)

Also, we're back to square one with Niki. Who thought that was a good idea?

Well... I'm of two minds on this. I too find it a tedious reversion back to her S1 storyline that's really unnecessary. OTOH, I think that someone on the show needed to need what the Company could offer in order to keep the Company's motives ambiguous. I mean, they really are helping her. And I really liked that Bob gave her an explanation for what is happening - that some people can't handle their powers/what they've done with those powers and subsequently spin off another personality to deal. That helps explain what's going on with Niki, it sets up the notion that the ( ... )

I suppose that's a convenient handwave, but I still would have liked to have seen him try and not be able to.

Niki's story as a concept works for me if I ignore the fact that invalidates almost her entire storyline from last year...

You're very good at fanwanking that away, but man, the idea that the whole of her arc last season is undone is irritating.
