Arrrgh!

How do people do this!? (only the interrobang can convey my frustration right now)

I've just figured out how to make the casefile part of this story work better - it involves rearranging the order of scenes, which, fine. Be that way. I hate doing it, but I know it'll make the story better, so I will do it ( Read more... )

About the flowers: please gird your loins to tell your bosses that you appreciate the gesture but are allergic to gardenias or whatever it was. A friend of mine once served me a tenderly home-cooked brunch of Eggs Benedict, which I praised to the skies because I *know* how hard it is to make. Of course, that's what she made the next time I was over there, because she had no way of knowing that I loathe both poached eggs and hollandaise sauce ( ... )

Yeah, I suppose I should. The scent is really strong now, and I know I'm not the only one who's noticed.

And hee! I didn't claim I was ambitious. Believe me, I am trying to nip all ambition this story shows in the bud. But it keeps coming at me, like some kind of budding tentacled plot monster.

*shudders*

could you just have Character A *think* about how Character B was absolutely right/absolutely wrong about that thing, or how adorable Character B was, or how infuriating, or how funny....?

In this case, not so much, but I think I've worked it out. And probably added another 1K to my word count.

*whimper*

*soldiers on*

Are they lilies? 'Cos lots of people are allergic to lilies, particularly stargazers, but they're a high-end flower, so they're often in nice arrangements.

One suggestion is to put them on a file cabinet or somewhere else that's centrally located and far enough away from your desk, and if asked why, explain that you "want to share them with everyone." Or stick 'em in the ladies room, where "all the girls can enjoy them, not just me."

Then, maybe a week or two before Admin Pro Day next year, mention, "by the way, did you know I'm allergic to lilies?" Then they should know better, and be able to tell the florist. Or you'll find out if they listen to you or not...

Hyacinths. I did get rid of them this morning, because the scent had gone from overpowering but still flowery to sickly and decaying.

Heh. That would require me to actually remember the day was coming up, which I hardly ever do. But I suppose it's a possibility.
