see you heaven if you make the list

You know, I feel for Pats fans (though the hilarity of the sports guy on Newsradio-88 comparing them to the Yankees [i.e., so dominant everyone who doesn't love them hates them, which just so isn't so the way it is for the Yankees] will never EVER get old), but um, I just don't get the Peyton hate. I mean, sure he's overhyped, but it's the NFL. ( Read more... )

I, too, like Peyton Manning's commercials. People really *do* hate him irrationally. It's perplexing.

Yeah, I don't get it. Maybe if my team were in the AFC, I would, but as a Giants fan, I don't feel any 'natural' antipathy towards the Colts, so I don't really get why people hate him so much.

i hate him because he threw his offensive line under the bus when the colts lost in the post-season last year, and because he whines when people point out that although the colts won, he himself played terribly. i actually hate his entire family, because eli manning refused to go to the chargers, which i think is incredibly tedious and whiny. and i have ALWAYS hated statistical all-stars, so i would probably hate him for that reason alone. ultimately, also, he's the quarterback of my team's rival, and i don't really understand why that's not enough reason to hate him.

I think the Yankees/Pats comparison is a big pile of crap and it makes me just as cranky as it did when people were comparing the Wings to them. I don't hate the Yankees because they win all the time. I hate the Yankees because they spend bazillions of dollars to steal every good player away from teams and then still suck. And their owner is a giant dicksmack. Which, of course, are the legitimate reasons to hate them!

The Pats don't run around spending money on over-hyped, under-achieving glory hounds. They just win. They actually do all the things that other teams would get respect for, but then people whine because they do it too much. That makes no sense to me. I mean, I am fine with saying that it gets old watching them win all the time but to actively hate them for it makes no sense to me ( ... )

Obviously, you find it amusing because you are a Mets fan.

Well, that, and because I know how much it pisses off Pats fans. Which is just amusing because I am kind of a bitch.

So much for my 'caring, sensitive heart.' Stupid horoscopes.

Heh. Well, I obviously reserve my right as a Pats fan to dislike Peyton, but I don't actually hate him personally. I tend to put him in the same category as A-Rod: how can someone who is that good choke so spectacularly in all the key situations? 9-0 starts and 49-touchdown seasons aren't going to do much for you when you lose the ability to play football properly in the post season.

I guess in two weeks we shall see whether he can truly overcome his demons and win a Superbowl on his own terms. At the moment the thing I'm most focused on is thanking the heavens that last night's game didn't come down to an Adam Vinatieri field goal. That, far more than just the Colts winning, would have been completely unbearable. ;)

Well, division rivalry I understand. But a lot of the hate seems personal, and I just... don't really get that in his case.

Yeah, I don't hate A-Rod, though I find him inexplicable and amusing, but I am a Mets fan, so. That does color things.

Yeah, I get why that would have totally been hard to choke down.

I am sacrificing some chickens in the hopes that the Super Bowl will come down to Adam "Money-As-In-Money-Is-More-Important-Than-Loyalty" Vinatieri shanking one that loses the Colts the game. So, feel free to do the same. I'll send you instructions. ;)

"they're not saying 'boo,' they're saying moooooooooovers."

"You still have the best arm in the neighborhood, Johnny!"

Manning beat us fair and square yesterday, and he wasn't a jerk about it, so what can I hate him for?

There are apparently reasons *points up* but as an NFC fan, I haven't really paid them much attention.
