[Ever since he had found the courtyard with the horses and their stables it had been practically impossible to tear the young Exorcist away from them. They were his only refuge anymore what with Kanda being busy with Alma, Tyki still slipping away to be with others, and Cross ( Read more... )

[It was quiet. Well, there were birds outside and little things making noise, but it was quiet where it mattered: In his mind. The constant noise and chatter was gone for now at least, though waking up alone once again had driven something in the former general's mind to wait for a time to go off.

A walk would hopefully help to keep him calm, anything to stay out of the room, empty spaces and little bits he had gotten for his twin star on his arrival taking up other spaces. What a fucking mess but it was typical Nea to be there one day then gone the next but it never got to the point he couldn't feel him.

After a few minutes of walking, Cross found himself at a fenced in space, horses roaming around and a familiar figure sitting up on the fence. Making his way over, the man paused a few feet away, not wanting to startle Rene, or the horse that had his attention.]

[As far away from the main living spaces as this courtyard was it was almost like they weren't even in the Dressing Room anymore. This was just a noble's stable and land where they were permitted to be because of the Rose Cross on their uniforms just like they always had a train car reserved or other such things.

His name - his real name - always startles him and always makes him flush, both happen as he lifts his head and looks back over his shoulder. The mare whickers as his attention is torn away and her nose goes under his arm, trying to get it back. Though Cross thoroughly has it for the moment.]

Dad?

[Cross leaned against the fence, going in his coat for his cigarette case, already feeling the need for a cigarette. He didn't know why he kept feeling like that, but he did. Maybe it was just the stress.]

You don't have to call me that. Cross works just fine.

[Dad. Father. A paternal name. The man still had no idea how to handle that. Just being called Cross would be less awkward for the both of them he thought. Cigarette perched between his lips, Cross lit up, taking a long drag to sooth his nerves.]

[At least they're outside so that it'll drift away and your son won't get second hand smoke. Then again, being raised by Bookman probably gave him that already. Surrounded by smokers, he is.

Lavi blinks and nods a bit, moving back to scratching at the mare's forehead.] What brings you out this way today?
