[Ever since he had found the courtyard with the horses and their stables it had been practically impossible to tear the young Exorcist away from them. They were his only refuge anymore what with Kanda being busy with Alma, Tyki still slipping away to be with others, and Cross

A walk would hopefully help to keep him calm, anything to stay out of the room, empty spaces and little bits he had gotten for his twin star on his arrival taking up other spaces. What a fucking mess but it was typical Nea to be there one day then gone the next but it never got to the point he couldn't feel him.
After a few minutes of walking, Cross found himself at a fenced in space, horses roaming around and a familiar figure sitting up on the fence. Making his way over, the man paused a few feet away, not wanting to startle Rene, or the horse that had his attention.]
...Rene...

His name - his real name - always startles him and always makes him flush, both happen as he lifts his head and looks back over his shoulder. The mare whickers as his attention is torn away and her nose goes under his arm, trying to get it back. Though Cross thoroughly has it for the moment.]

You don't have to call me that. Cross works just fine.
[Dad. Father. A paternal name. The man still had no idea how to handle that. Just being called Cross would be less awkward for the both of them he thought. Cigarette perched between his lips, Cross lit up, taking a long drag to sooth his nerves.]

I needed some air... Clear my head and enjoy some silence.
[And get away from the emptiness that is his room but you don't need to know about all of that, Rene.]
Enjoying some time with the horses?

That's why I come out here with them, I'm not alone out here.
[But...he does know about it in his own way. You and your son are more in the same boat than you think.]
Stable master says not a lot of people come out here anymore. They miss company too.

That's good.
[So, twin star trouble is genetic then? Wonderful.]
Why is that? They all seem perfectly fine, it's not like they appear violent and ready to harm a visitor. Poor things.

Probably just more interested in making friends with people that can talk back. [The black gelding that Lavi made friends with last time comes over and noses at Cross.]

Only someone who knows about the world would seek company in a quiet companion that does not need more then a few moments of your day.
[Cross held his cigarette in his other hand, reaching out to set his hand on the gelding's nose, rubbing slowly with his thumb.]

I've been spending more than a few moments out here lately... Most of my day. [Your son is also looking more tanned for it.] Not that I mind... I missed being around horses.
[It whickers softly, nosing at pockets for possible sweets if it can.]
