It doesn't matter if you've seen Dogma, really. As you need to know is that in Dogma God can't talk to humans because if she does, their heads explode. But I just want Chuck the prophet mouthpiece, that's all! It's more a Chuck as prophet rather than chuck as God theory than anything else.

I just figure that by my theory, that scene where he disappeared wasn't him but him as God's vessel. He WAS super OOC in that moment too.
