The Omnibus for Kindle was $.99 on Amazon. Dirt Cheap, thanks to public domain. Working my way through the Five Orange Pips as we speak. I've been annotating as I go through, keeping a running count of how many times Watson mentions Holmes' eyes. "Decoding the Subtext" thought he had a bit of an obsession, so I'm collecting statistical data :P. So far, after all four novels and four of the short stories, Holmes' eyes have been mentioned (mostly as dreamy or glittering) twenty-two times.
As for the Big Bang, that was the minimum word limit. And it's not done. Damn huge cast of characters all needing to be angsty all up in mah climaxes...
Oh jesus, yes, Watson's so obsessed. Not that I blame him, though. Judging by his descriptions, Holmes is, well, the most attractive man ever to have existed ever, even in fiction. Or at least, to me he is. Which, if my friends are to be believed, isn't quite normal. His eyes, and his hands. Oh god, his hands. So pretty.
Pssh, that's beside the point, 20 000 words is still damn impressive.
YES THE HANDS! AND THE MUSIC! AND THE FACT HE'S POSSIBLY THE ONLY MAN IN FICTION WHO MAKES ME HAPPY TO BE NOT AS SMART AS HIM!
*swoon* Seriously, if he was into girls (I have concluded he thoroughly is not), and he was real, and I had a time machine, I would seriously be camping on his doorstep. Hell, even if he's not into girls I'd still be camping.
Hounds was like, "Seriously, Watson? The second you saw a tall thin man on a hill with the moon behind him and you got a "thrill," you didn't realize it was Holmes?" Still, I squeed. Repeatedly. And I adore the Boscombe Valley Mystery, because Mary actually shoos Watson off for what amounts to a weekend getaway with his boyfriend. The woman is more accepting than I am. Seriously, I'm kinda tempted to cry OT3 here.

HOLMES.
OMNIBUS.
JEALOUS. SO VERY, VERY JEALOUS.
Oh, I love Hound. But sadface used-not-trusted Watson makes me sad. Luckily, Holmes knows how to fix things.
And in regards to your Big Bang, holy crap, that's amazing! Jesus, 20 000 words?! That's like... a flipping novella! Christ, well done!
