“So… who are you?”
There are a lot of things she could say. Most of them are silly, half of them are lies, and there’s only one that really matters.
Actually, I’m your girlfriend, Takizawa-kun.
I’m your friend of course!
I love you.
That last one wouldn’t answer anything though, and she keeps it locked tight against her lips.
She stays silent, eyes drifting towards to stray pebbles. What did it matter anyways; the boy before her is not her Takizawa-kun. It was like meeting in Washington D.C. all over again, only worse. She still remembers him, can still recall the warmth of his hand, the sound of his laugh. This Takizawa-kun knows nothing of the sort.
But she knows that if he could become the person she loved without any of his memories, he could do it again. She’d just have to look for him.
So she looks up, smiles, and says, “I’m Saki Morimi. I know you quite well, Takizawa-kun.”
