A Taste of Hawaii

One of my favorite memories from our honeymoon was our hike to Hanakapi'ai Falls in Kauai. We jokingly refer to it as the "Honey-can-I-pee Falls" because A~ must have stopped half a dozen times along the about 8-mile hike (round trip) to surreptitiously relieve himself out of view of other hikers. Portuguese sausage musubi? I have never heard of such a thing - but I think I would like it!

gorgeous pics both of Kauai and the musubi! I like to add minced garlic to the marinade, and sandwich the spam between two layers of 0.5-0.75" rice so that if any sauce/oils seep out, they soak into the rice instead of being smeared onto the saran wrap or whatever the musubi is being stored in. Btw, I think it's totally cute how you layered them with the dry rice flour sheets(!) :D

Oh, I will definitely try adding minced garlic next time. I've seen the spam in the middle version as well. Good point about the saran wrap. Perhaps I will try that next time (which hopefully won't be soon, since Spam isn't exactly good for you).
