I'm not sure how much of Cora's essay you post here -- it looks like an entire essay -- but you might consider "friends locking" the post so that you aren't violating copyright [actually, I'm not entirely sure friends-locking would get you around it, but it's what I use; my friends list has usually been small enough that it felt like sharing a short photocopy with someone]. Alternately, quoting smaller bits or summarizing would keep you in the clear.
I get the sense you write journal-y entries, but of course if something isn't restricted, the page is published for anyone to see.
I quoted a small portion of two much longer books, Fifty Years in the Feri Tradition and Childhood Memories, and neither is the heart of what the book is about, but more a side discussion. My understanding of "fair use" in copyright law is that I can use it the way I did to comment on it. I just reviewed what various court cases say about fair use, to make sure I wasn't remembering wrong, and I'm pretty sure I'm within my rights to include it.
You may well be within your rights. I hope this comment hasn't come off as an accusation; it's not. It's more a concern, because I know that fairness in publication has come up a lot within the pagan community, especially in Feri.
I am fairly certain that if this is an entire essay, it does not fall within fair use, whatever the place of the essay in the book. Generally, quoted pieces are kept short, and if a piece is quoted from extensively, the quotations are interspersed with discussion. In that way, the "fair use" of using another's piece to discuss it or to supplement your own discussion is clearly signalled.
Yep, I know it was concern, not an accusation. And I appreciate it. Honestly, if I had been offended, I would have either ignored it or deleted it. But I'm not easily offended
