Oh sweet Mung! I absolutely loved the song! Mr42's accompaniment was simply perfect. You two make such beautiful music together. Thanks for posting it since some of the words were muddled by the machine.
A funny aside..a million years ago when I was dancing with the Civic Ballet Co., we performed the Dance of the Hours with the Cincinnati Symphony. Guess who was cast in the Hello Muddah number? You got it. I think there were six of us in position on stage wearing lovely period costumes. The orchestra begins this section and there is a wave of laughter which rolls through the audience. We knew it was coming since everybody knew the Allen Sherman camp song. We had to act and dance as if we had no idea why they were laughing. Fortunately the audience quieted down quickly and in the end we got an extra enthusiastic round of applause.
I'm so proud to be your mom and Mr.42's mother-in-law. I fully anticipate that one day you will dedicate a book to me. Until then, finish your story and know that your Ma loves you very much

::big hugs:: I'm so glad you liked the song! (though I think Mr. 42 and I will have it in our heads for a week or more) I have a little something else for you that will be winging its way to Olney along with pop's birthday pressie. I couldn't get it before today (and you'll see why once you receive it), but I think you'll enjoy it, too. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! I hope your day of honor is relaxing, fun, and at least, a wee bit silly. Nothing but the best for my mom!
Hee hee hee....ahhhh...memories of 1992 and the 25th ANniversary Celebratory Dr. Demento tape set I had.....including Hello Muddah, Dead Puppies, Boot to the Head, Fish Heads, Existential Blues, and many other classics that we memorized because we were 13 and totally retarded.
Now you're a full blown university employee, i work for a non profit and have 2 kids (almost, since bun 2 is still cooking technically).
My Dearest Ali-gator, just goes to show that sometimes, even thirteen-year-olds are geniuses. Monty Python and Blackadder are still brilliant, even when we're not laughing about thingy-shaped turnips. Okay, or even when we are laughing at thingy-shaped turnips.
Love to you, Mr. Croc, the bun, and the bun-to-be,
I came this close ::indicates small amount:: to making it a voice post. I will take this assignment under consideration! :D My pleasure for the giggle- may it inspire you to great heights of ungrammatical silliness!
Poetry doesn't come easily to me, I'm afraid. I have read Stephen Fry's book more than once, but I just haven't got the knack of it. (That doesn't mean I've stopped trying, though!)
I adore your icon- that's one of my favorite lines from the play. For as much rhyming as I do, it doesn't always come easily, particularly when I have very precise scansion (or deliberately bad scansion, like in this). My two open secrets: RhymeZone and thesaurus.com. Jumping back and forth between these two sites makes for easy breezy (and sometimes cheesy) rhymes!
I do fear that my Shermanesque vocal stylings might not be the finest display for my vocal training, but fortunately, I gave up pride when I decided to major in theatre. ;D
It's more of a Cincinnati accent, but she was responsible for teaching us great Brooklyn classics like "Toity Poiple Boids" (Thirty Purple Birds) and, of course, "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh!" Talk about an exercise in ethnomusicology! :D
