To honor National Sea Monkey Day, and the beginning of National Police Week, I have combined the two in a sentimental song about the constabulary and our favorite underwater pets.

In this aria, Crustaceo (a dashing sea monkey of humble hatching who ends up being the long-lost son of the magistrate and lives happily ever after with the chief of ( Read more... )

I'm glad to bring you a grin on Sea Monkey Day! I'm going to try to top myself one of these days and do a "Modern Major General" spoof. Let's see, for Leif Erickson day, perhaps "I am the very model of Icelandic ship reconnaisance..."

I shall worship you from afar! Brilliant -- and now I must bump Pirates of Penzanze up my Netflix queue... I guess that means seeing Kevin again... *yay* ;)

I'm delighted you enjoyed! I've been meaning to get my hands on the video - one of our local libraries is likely to have it. And speaking of silly pirate films, have you seen "Yellowbeard?" It features most of the Monty Python actors, Madeline Kahn, Cheech & Chong, and many others. Silly silly stuff!

Well done, my lovely lyricist! My mind thinks also of the Mikado...3 little monkeys quite contrary come from a seacoast estuary....
Ack! It's catching....And a sad reminder that my one experience with sea monkeys was not a happy one (sniff!)

*cracks up* Yessiree bob, that's where I get it, all right. I just jumped to HMS Pinafore: "I devoured so much algae on my eating spree that now the ruler of the sea monkeys!" I'm glad that you have come to terms with your loss to the point that you can write honor them with Gilbert and Sullivan. *love!*

and why dont the angry shrimp eat bananas?

Because bananas don't ap-peel to them.

HAHAHAHAHA!

*smacks self*

Sorry, couldn't resist. But the real answer is that the angry shrimp (aka sea monkey) is tired of being mistaken for an aboreal/terrestrial monkey and being fed bananas. It's the existential pain that I project upon the poor little crustaceans- that of always being compared to the much cuter and fuzzier primates by virtue of being dubbed "monkeys."

haha gotcha. i think i may have been the only kid in the world who never experienced sea monkeys...thus the lack of knowledge behind the shrimp part. i did read your song and on my 3 hour drive i may attempt to memorize it. it'd be a nice party trick or something dontcha think?
